I had towear it for 14 weeks, get impressions for next step, wait 3 weeks until they arrive and wear next step for 4 weeks, at this stage I can start teeth whitening.

My wisdoms are buried cos no room but he said to leave them, he's nearly 40 and his r still buried and have never been sore so they don't remove them as quick ly anymore.

Mine cost 1800 Euro including whitening and retaineras. I'll get 20 pr cent back off government too. Irish dental prices are ridiculous compared to English! Was temp ed to go up north of Ireland but didn't want the hassle!

Hi Boomerang,

Just seen you got your Inman aligners on Bachelors Walk, Lisburn. I am meeting them for a consultation next week.

How do you feel about them after having the treatment? Would you recommend them?

Thanks.

Hi, sorry I haven't been on for a while between one thing and another.... Great to hear some of you I was in contact are nearing the end, that's brilliant! I was at the dentist last night and she reckons another 3 weeks and I will be ready to be fitted with the permanent retainer. There is just the tiniest bit of overlap still, but wow, what a difference from the beginning.

She added another composite blob to the back of one of my front teeth last night and I found it really tricky getting the aligner out. So much so, this morning when I popped it back in, the blob seems to have come off. Do you think I should go back and have another one stuck on, will it make a huge difference? It just seemed to make the brace too tight almost.

Thanks!

Thanks cjfarmgate! I've managed to get an appointment for 4.30! Hope it stays in place this time, as it did feel that my tooth was getting more of a push.... This was how they looked 3 weeks ago and the illusion of the longer tooth is less now (over-brushing and receding my gum) when it was a fang! I'll get another one up once I'm finished!

Took a bit longer than I'd initially thought (was fitted on 16 July) but I had 2 weeks in America and only wore it at night when I was sleeping which really slowed it down.

Delighted overall though!

Look forward to seeing your photos when you get them up.

LadyF well done, your dentist will sort you out don't worry but I have to say your teeth look great in the picture! I'm still trying to get my photos on but the size is too bit, need to work out how to reduce the format size!

Hi all!
Just back from a trip to the dentist and a little disappointed. She had me so convinced that I would be getting fitted for a retainer today, but now says they aren't ready, which means I will have my Inman for my 3 week holiday :( They annoying part is that at my last appointment she told me to stop turning the key and now wants me to start it again - which makes me wonder if they'd be done now if I'd kept turning it for the last 3 weeks! :( :( :(

Anyway! Just wondering does anyone think it will make a big difference if I wear my Inman a lot less while on hols - mainly at night? I usually wear it at least 20 hrs a day, and they are nearly straight, just one stubborn canine! I am thinking maybe I will get away with 12-16 hours a day on holidays.......

I'd say you could, I'm at the same stage just waiting on Essix retainers and I'm only wearing it for about 13 or 14 hours a day, enough to keep them in line. I think I assumed I didn't have to turn it.now I'm not sure. ...

Thanks cjfarmgate, tmcn and rosiesue! This bit feels more difficult as the brace is really tight again since she fixed the composite blob that pinged off and I'm back to being wary taking it out!

Rosiesue - I was the same going on holiday and literally only wore it at night when I was sleeping - I felt I was just retaining but the dentist said there was still improvement so you will be fine as you are planning on wearing it for more than the 8 hours or so that I managed. When it gets close to compłetion it feels like the hardest bit! Don't worry - and have a brilliant holiday!x

Good to hear from you guys! Good luck all - we are nearly there!!x

Rosiesue, so gutted for you, this is the hardest part but your dentist is like mine was, very meticulous and only wants the best results for you so just a little more patience and you'll be there next time I'm sure. Have a great holiday and you should be OK keeping your inman in for 16 hours (that's what I would do).

LadyF, that tightness will decrease as your teeth move so don't worry but do be careful when you take it out and put it back in - good luck!

tmcn, if your dentist has told you not to turn it, then don't would be my advice!

Hi, I'm new, recently had my first consultation and advised to use inman aligner. booked in to get appliance 3 days before 2 week long haul holiday to Thailand with friends. Thought this would be ok as not embarassed re speech etc in front of them and would be able to get used to it a bit before returning to work.
Anyone got any views on whether I will be able to cope just getting used to it while on holiday? Am i able to have a few alcohol drinks while wearing it? I know you remove it to eat and brush before inserting it again - just wondering whether its going to be a nuisance on my holiday and whether i should consider getting it earlier and just beig more embarassed at work beforehand?

helenv - stick with your plan, it will be hard for the first week, especially speech but your holiday will relax you and ease the aching mouth and you will be less embarrassed speaking to your friends than you would your work colleagues. By the time you get back to work, your speech will have improved as will your confidence. Yes, you can drink alcohol whilst wearing your inman!! Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I'm a bit worried about being able to take it out and put it back in again after eating when getting used to it in Thailand. Sounds like it's painful to begin with to do this so hoping I get on ok. Also cleaning each time will be a nuisance when out and about - i'll have to try and clean it with bottled water everywhere! Anyway, my plan is to "embrace the brace" as it's my choice i'm having it and hopefully will improve my confidence in the long term.
