12 days in. . .
Hi. I'm new to the board. I had metal braces put on 12 days ago. My children (3 of them in braces) and the tech at the orthodontist's office all said that a week of pain was normal, and then, I'd be fine to eat as usual. I had pain for a week, true, but now it feels as if every tooth in my mouth is loose. I can't chew or bite into food harder than a piece of bread because of the wobbly pain that ensues. I can actually push my bottom teeth against my tongue and they move. Is that normal? I know that tooth shifting is what we're going for, but yikes! I wasn't expecting it on this scale. Is this normal or not? Thanks.

Hello and welcome! It's normal. I also felt my teeth were going to fall off in the beginning as well and eating was a pain with them wiggling so much.

Thanks for your answer. Do you remember about how long until your teeth firmed up a bit?

For me, it was two months or so. The first month I had the tops installed and the first adjustment I had the bottoms installed.

I found my teeth felt wobbly all the way through and my front teeth used to 'click' when i pushed my tongue against them, which freaked me out but my ortho said this was normal:)

Been in braces foreverrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Wiggly teeth happened periodically throughout treatment to me. They are a little unnerving, but utterly routine.

I appreciate these answers. Glad to know it's nothing unusual!

I sometimes experienced that after every couple of visits, depending on what the orthodontist was "targeting" I suppose.

At first it was my lower front teeth that felt very loose, then it was my top front teeth. I talked to my doc at the last adjustment and he assured me that it's normal throughout the treatment.
