Swallowing glue/cement

#1 Post by Beckyboo »

Hi all,

This is my first post! I'm three weeks into my Six Month Smiles braces, and when I had them fitted the dentist put this white glue/cement stuff on my top molars at the back to stop me biting down on my bottom brackets. I've just realised that one of the bits has disappeared - it must have broken off while I was eating and I guess I swallowed it.

Has anyone else ever done this? Does it cause any problems or shold it, ahem, pass through?

Thanks!

It's like swallowing gum, it will take 7 years to digest it. Just kidding, I'm sure the buildups are non toxic and have already ended up in the sewer.

You'll be fine, I ate a bracket once that fell off chewing a bread roll, never saw it again !

Hi, yes I've done this too, mainly because I've been grinding/clenching my teeth at night. I had it replaced last week!

Yep, no big deal. I swallowed a bracket a few weeks ago. Orhto said it was common.
