Just curious for all of us with and off midline, how far is yours off, and what and how is it being corrected?
Thanks for any responses
Leah

Midline

#2 Post by HollyDontSpend »

Not sure how far mine is off, but it has been corrected though use of elastics. I've been wearing them since November of last year. It's worked pretty well, but it's still not completely perfect. Actually, I never noticed that it was off, given how crooked my teeth were. HA!

Dear Leah,

I had the following elastic configuration to correct my lower midline :

Image

It needed to move almost one lower incisor's width. And yes, this rather
... annoying ... configuration did work well. I had it for about 6 weeks.
The rest was done by normal elastics. I mean those that are hidden a bit
better. But I see your issues are mainly the upper teeth. I guess this is
harder to correct.

My ortho told me my top midline if fine, its just the lower we have to worry about-I imagine I will have some sort of set up like Clo does when my time comes!!
Spacers-9-19-05
Top Braced-10-03-05
lowers on-10-17-05
appliance installed in mouth 10-17-05
2 extractions on 8-3-06
2 years treatment time

Dr says I won't finish on time

What do they do If you don't have upper braces?

I didn't have a clue about the midline...so I was not aware that my was off...but I guess mine was not that much off. As it is nearly corrected now!! without any elastics, my teeth were slandirized
6/4/2005: 2nd premolar extracted+ spacers in

Can I ask, were you mid lines off before you started treatment or did the braces cause it?
My mid line is perfectly fine - I am hoping braces won't change that?

midline

Bracingmyself, My midline was perfect before I was braced, from what I understand it is pretty common to have it be off sometime during treatment, especally if you have to have front teeth work done.

midline

#11 Post by leah »

Yes it should go back just fine with the help of lots of hours in elastics, I guess im my case things had to get alot worse before they could get better, and not im well on the road to better. you can ask you ortho what he "guesses" because thats all they can really do, about wether your midline will be thrown off.

Well, thinking about it, it figures that it would be off at some point as the teeth are moving but fingers crossed it goes back. I'm sure ortho's want the best result and will work to fix it.
I am going back in 2 weeks to see the models of my simulation she is doing for me so I will ask then.
Thanks :)

midlines

Hey ladies, I asked my ortho about the whole midline thing and he says that why Im in elastics now which I allready knew. Just a very slow process he cannot even guess how long it will take to correct this. but it one of those things have to get bad before they better deals.
best wishes,
Leah

Mine were off too, but I am also missing my left canine (never came in) so all my teeth shifted resulting in a off midline. Most of it has been correct with powerchains. But I go in tomorrow for another appointment.
Yeah, braces make me look 16 yrs but so what!?!?
