Hi All,

Looks like my previous post dissapeared. I was just asking is it possible that my teeth may already be moving after only 5 days? When I take the brace out it feels like the set back tooth is now touching the bottom teeth more than it did previously, it may just be extra sensitive so I think it is but just wanted to check if that was possible.

Also, maybe a silly question but did anyone get worried about their teeth becoming loose? I am scared the tooth that is being moved will become loose and fall out, due to all the sudden movement. Sure I'm just being paranoid but I would rather have a set back tooth than no tooth at all lol

Hi Jen

I used sterident denture tablets, the kind that you dissolve in water. Yes, it is common to feel that your tooth/teeth may fall out - they won't!! They have to get loose in order to move and yes, they probably are starting to move even after only 5 days, that is a good result!

Hi CJ,

Thanks for reassuring me that its normal to feel like the teeth may fall out and even more for confirming they wont :D

I can now see pictures on the forum, its so great to see the before and after pics, gives me hope that it'll be worth it in the end.

Hi All,

Can I just check, did anyone else have a bite plane as part of their aligner? I think this is why I am struggling to speak so much.

JEN My teeth are loose, but I'm careful when I eat and especially when i take the aligner out and put it back in coz it sometimes snaps back on my teeth and i get scared it's then going to knock my teeth out, but so far so good, and your teeth are suppose to be loose, they won't be loose after all of this tho, also I was a bit scared to get the gingevectomy too, but is was done with laser and my dentist has this thing called the Wand. It is a way less painful way to get anesthetic, I could barely feel the needles at all! When it came time to do the gingevectomy. It was great, also your exposed teeth will be fine after it, They'll be sensitive so careful when you brush, but exposure afterwards is fine. don't worry you'll be happy you did it.You'll be amazed when you see my pics.I'm currently in my 7th week of my bottom teeth with the aligner. My teeth are bad, very crooked, twisted but the top is now great thanks to the aligner.I always talk funny and look funny when i talk but i've been hiding a lot,not going out unless I have to Good luck :)

Hi Sinder77,

I'm glad its normal to feel like that about your teeth being loose. Wow didnt realise you now have an aligner on the bottom teeth, thats great, especially if they turn out as good as your top ones did, as they look fab!

Yeah, I've decided if the speech doesnt improve I'll just have to get over it, as its hopefully only going to take 12-16 weeks, which for straight teeth, I think I can handle as I know how happy I will be at the end of it. :D

Good luck with the bottom set, hope it's going well, how long do you have to wear this one for?

I'm not sure. I actually lost my aligner 2.5 weeks after I started wearing it, had to buy a replacement for $500 so I think I lost some progress. Been about 7 weeks into it now and I definitely see a big improvement. Good luck Jen. Keep me updated :-)

I went for my first 2 week check up today, all good. My dentist is really pleased and said he agrees with me that the tooth has actually started moving already which is great :D

I had some more interproximal reduction done, which I believe he is going to do a little of each time until the tooth has enough room to move into the correct place. My dentist does this by hand rather than using a machine which sounds much better to me.

He tells me that because he is only reducing by a very small amount, the tooth will not be damaged by this process, has anyone else had this done, what did you think?

Thanks! :D

Hi

Really sorry I didn't see this until now! I went straight back to my dentist and she took off the fixed bar, got the inman refitted, wore that for a couple of weeks and then had some clear trays, and they are perfect again! Actually even better than last finish time as I think the clear trays really refine them. Have had a bar for the last 3 weeks and they haven't budged. Very happy! Good luck to all starting out, its so worth it!

Hi! Can I jump in here? I'm new. My name is Emily. I have never had braces, but at 42, my teeth don't make me very happy. Just the upper 4. I went to a dentist last week who went over Invisalign, Inman and 6 month smile. We chose Inman as the best for me. He did the impressions (Gag!). He said it would be about 3 weeks, so 2 more weeks to go! I'm paying for this out of pocket and it's $1650.

I have a question about the retainer at the end of all this. My dentist said that the retainer will cost $295, OR he can make a retainer from the Inman Aligner for free. Has anyone's dentist done that? Saving $ would be nice. I'm a single mom of 2 kids!

Thanks! Nice to "meet" everyone!

Hi Emily,

I'm also relatively new, only 3 weeks into my treatment. My dentist didnt mention anything about paying extra for the retainer, he told me it was all included in the price, but if I want anything else done, like bonding or whitening at the end, that would obviously be extra.

I would say if he can make a retainer from the aligner and it won't cost you anything, go for that option, as long as he is sure it will do the job. :D

Good luck, hope all goes well when you get your aligner in a couple of weeks, look forward to hearing about your progress.

Thanks,
Jen

Hi everyone, I discovered this forum whilst trying to find more information re the Inman aligners. I have recently been looking to getting Invisalign and on booking my consultation the receptionist told me about Inman which are apparently a lot cheaper? and quicker? Can anyone confirm this?

I am yet to attend my first consultation but which just one crooked tooth, and wanting to do this the most cost effective way it seems Inman may be the way to go. Any advice such as top tips, questions to ask at my consultation etc would be greatly appreciated.

thanks :)

Hi amylouise,

I also just have the one tooth to correct, I have gone for the inman mainly because it was quite a bit cheaper than the invisalign. A friend of mine had the invisalign a few years ago and she got on really well with it. I think the timing is about the same but I would ask your dentist to confirm this.

I believe the invisalign is just a clear retainer which you have changed frequently as your teeth start to move, whereas the inman aligner is an actual brace. When I looked into it I think that the Invisalign looks like it would be easier to adapt to, i.e. talking etc, I am 3 weeks in with my inman and still cant talk properly and I do not think this is going to improve due to the bite plane, I only have a bite plane because the tooth which is on the top set that has to come forward, currently sits behind the bottom set, but if you dont have one of them, you should be ok. Most people on here have said after a few weeks that their speech is much better.

I am very happy with my inman, even though I cant talk properly, I think for 12-16 weeks which is how long it should take to complete my treatment, I can put up with it. I am already seeing movement after 3 weeks :D

Hope this has helped.

I just got the call from my dentist that my IA is in, but they are still waiting for the case to come in. They booked me for 3 weeks from now on May 27. What kind of special case is this that takes a month to deliver? Where's it coming from? :)
