Hawley retainers

Hawley retainers

Do hawleys alone work well? wondering if I should also get permanent ones, but my ortho only puts those on bottem not the top.

If you needed a perm. retainer, your ortho would likely suggest one.

Hawleys alone can work just fine, as long as they are worn according to instructions.

yes they work well. i have both permanent top + bottom.. and not permanent (ESSIX RETAINER) only for top
not everyone can get permanent retainer on the top. It depends on your bite. But always do in bottom.
if you can get permanent on top, do it. both with Hawley/ESSIX . to be 100% safe.
but you need to talk aboth that with youre Ortho they know for sure what you need.
Hundreds of patients, they know the job.

I have both a top and bottom Hawley retainer that I have worn only at night while I slept for the past 7 years and they've worked perfectly for me. My ortho has praised me numerous times on how well I followed instructions and have been able to maintain my results. So yes they do work but it never hurts to ask.
