Aw no that sounds horrible. It literally hurt for a few hours all of a sudden on Wednesday night so looked and there was two links (there was only one showing on Monday after adjustment) then woke up with 3 links showing and now three links and what I think is the plate thing is now out of the gum. There is no pain (only if I knock it), and the chain is not tight but it isn't hanging I can give it a tug and it still feels attached but I just didn't think it would move that quickly. On Monday she was surprised at how visible the chain and bracket were through the gum so it wouldn't of taken much moving to push them through. I'm booked in for Monday to have it checked. If it has come unattached I am never eating biscuits again because I ate some choccy diegestives about 2 hours before it started moving lol x

Hi saw them this morning (felt a bit silly to be honest!) And it is my tooth on the move! Chain and bracket fully attached! I just explained that I really wasn't expecting it to work so fast and that after a tooth is planted in your face for 28 years you are always very doubtful of it actually working! Any way all good stuff from me!
Any luck with yours millersgirl? X

Hey Ditzy,
I am so happy for you it's not broken! :jump: :jump: :jump: I will be honest that I am jealous!! Mine has been activated for 15 months and no sign of the tooth...I pray though that after this new chain has been attached the tooth will present itself soon. I only have until September for it to show progress or my ortho will discontinue attempting to get it to move and I have to move forward with implant plans.
It seems like everyone else's impacted teeth are moving well, hopefully mine picks up those vibes now!

:( aw I know, I do feel bad coming on and saying it has moved so quick after what you are going through. It goes to show how different it can be I guess, although they have pulled mine down differently to what I have seen on here so far, so it may of just been in a really good position.
Crossing fingers for yours to get a move on xx

Ok, i got top damon braces on yesterday. I have been surprised that i havent been in much pain. My front 6 teeth are sore and my back ones are not at all. I managed to eat subway soup and chew a chocolate chip cookie for lunch and macaroni and cheese for supper. I still feel the braces ate bulky. I am hoping that goes away after a few weeks at least. I have the spring over my baby canine. Ortho says he thought it could be 3 months or longer before surgery to expose. I would appreciate any feedback on getting used to the braces. Will i get to the point where i dont even notice they are there?

I'm at 6 months activated and my orthodontist took the fourth round of X-Rays today. I can see a progression but it is going (like I'm sure many of you have experienced as well) PAINFULLY slow. It makes things worse because my orthodontist is all in cheerleader mode and convinced that everything is going so fantastic. Grrrr. The longer it stays hidden the longer I'm in braces!

Good luck to you all!

You wont even notice them very soon. I promise.

Hi everyone!
I came across this thread awhile ago when I was still debating getting my braces put on to bring down my upper left canine. Many of your stories inspired me to do this so i must first say thank you! I have now had clear ceramic braces on my top teeth for about 3 weeks. I think my situation is slightly different than some stories i have read because prior to my placement of braces my adult canine was already growing into the roof of my mouth and was very visible if i lifted my head backwards.(why it took 20 years to start growing i will never know!) Because of this I am able to having my baby canine extracted and my adult canine exposed in just a couple of weeks. My ortho also says because the tooth is down to where it is already i will not have to have a chain put on. I am not sure if this means they will attach a bracket to the tooth or what. Has anyone else had a similar experience where they could see and feel the tooth(just not in the right place) prior to surgery? I haven't been able to find anything and am not sure what to expect!

Hi aml, that's weird, were you able to see the tooth on X-rays years ago or did it just appear? Sometimes they can just put a bracket and elastic to pull it over.

Yes! A couple of years ago the tooth was noticed on x-rays but I was too stubborn of a teenager to do anything about it! They said it may never grow in and I was happy with my only slightly crooked smile so i let it be until recently! Someone was right when they said you never notice how crooked your teeth are until you get the braces on!!

Went for a pan x ray 2 weeks ago . Went to see a oral surgeon 1 week ago. Found out impacted canine has a hook on the end so probly has to be extracted . My surgery is tomorrow at 1 pm. Aswell I am getting 1 wisdom tooth extracted . I will update with the pain levels after the extraction. I've read all see posts and none with an extraction . I will be getting a bone graph the same day so I pray it goes well. Future implant is in my view. Wish me luck ( =

Surgery was a breeze lol iv sedation is the way to go 100% no pain no memory and u wake up and get to go home. Extraction was a breeze. Lots of bloody gauze in my mouth tho. My dental phobia is cured n iv sedation is really the way to go. 1 week check up to see the healing process for the future implant ( =

Just a wee little update, my canine is mostly in place now YAY! But wait!! I ended up having to have a root canal on that poor tooth, it's been through so much. I ended up with an infection and my ortho referred me to an endodontist and that afternoon I had a root canal (yesterday). Feeling very sorry for myself and my poor canine, I had no idea that this would ever eventuate but apparently it's one of the risks of moving a tooth so far.

I'm still very pleased with my overall progress but this does put a halt in my overall orthodontics work for 12 weeks until it's healed up enough.

Oh no uneven, how unfortunate. Especially since you'll be losing those weeks. Hoping for a speedy recovery on your part.

My tooth is also almost in place. The gum area and tooth have been sore which sucks but it makes me happy to see that there's movement. It just needs a little nudge to get there. Then we can start pulling this bad boy down and i'll finally be able to see the light at the end of this awful tunnel.

I miss being able to smile without hiding my teeth :(
