White spots on teeth - just got braces.

#1 Post by kbh75 »

Hello. I just got my top braces yesterday. Won't get bottoms for a while. Today I noticed a white spot on one of my teeth just above the brace. I have never seen this before. Now I am freaking out. What is this?

It might be some of the cement that was used to bond the brackets to your teeth. If it seems to get bigger or worse, ask your orthodontist :)
They will be able to sand it off or you can wait til you have a regular cleaning and that will help reduce it.

My upper incisors did this too. And its not cement either. It happened the next day after bonding, and you can even see an outline of where they put that chemical down before bonding to prep the surface. I was told it was temporary and will go away. We will see.
