Should I get coloured bands?

#1 Post by Ieatswegers »

Hi I'm 33 and have had my ceramic braces for 13 months. I have always had clear bands (ligatures and power chains). I only have about 3 adjustments left and have been thinking about having coloured bands for the last few months.

I work in a professional environment and I am a bit unsure about having coloured bands especially as I deal with the public as part of my job.

Any advice/thoughts? TIA

Try hot pink. I couldn't even see it when I had it. Was my go to for the last 6 months or so.

My very last time I did the rainbow. It was ridiculous and stood out so much, but it was just for a few weeks.

I am a huge coffee drinker and just got braces with clear ligatures. After my first month in braces let's just say I won't be getting clear ones again! I'm 27 years old and feel like a teenager in braces but nobody at work really seems to care.

I haven't been that adventurous. I did sport pink ligs in support of cancer in October. I may go red and green for Christmas when I go in for my next adjustment in about a week.

Hi I think I will get coloured bands for my last adjustment. Choosing will be the hard part.

Thanks

Given my time again, I would have every lairy colour under the sun! Someone had a beautiful blue, once with the silver wires. I though it looked so pretty!

Go for it! :)

I got my braces 2.5 weeks ago, ceramic on top and metal on bottom. My ceramics are self-ligating so no ligs needed, but I went with boring gray on the bottom because I didn't want to draw a ton of attention to myself. A couple of days later, I regretted not going with something colorful and fun! I still have quite awhile until my first adjustment, but I'm already trying to decide what color I'll go with next time!

Definitely have a go with some colour, you will regret it if you don't and you can always go back in and say it's been an awful mistake if you don't like it.

Hello there!

Personally, I was never too adventurous with colors. I work in a professional setting as well, and did not want to draw attention to my braces.
I work as a band director at a middle school/high school and most of my students have braces and love to get colored ligatures. I guess I didn't go with colors because I didn't want to look like them ( i'm 26 but look way younger). I did try black one month but I hated it. Also, some colors would not match my wardrobe. LOL.

It's really a personal preference.

Best of Luck :)

I am the youngest person in my department at work. While I hate it being brought up, I can't really change it. So I tend to slide into the skid and mix it up with my braces colors. Nobody ever really notices but I do it for me. The good news is that the colors are temporary and if you don't like it, you don't have to do it again.
