Hi

I am having both lateral incisors removed as part of my treatment. On the one hand, I;m not too fussed as they are undersized/peg-shaped. On the other hand, they are my teeth and they are ones that I can see!

Does anyone have a feeling for how long it will take for the gaps to close? I'll post a picture as soon as I am able (don't have permission yet), that way you can see the distance that need to be closed.

I'm curious of other's experience with extractions as well. I'll be having an retained upper canine removed Wednesday. The permanent tooth, luckily, isn't impacted but will need to be moved into my arch.

My husband will also be having all four first premolars extracted at that time as a well.

I know each case is different but it's interesting to hear how things have progressed for others.

The one guideline I was told was about 1.5-1 mm per month was maximum. Depends on if they are moving teeth in from both directions to close the gap, or just one.

Hello there!

I had 4 pre molars extracted last year in July due to an overjet. Only one extraction gap has closed and the other 3 are about 25%-50% closed.

I thought they would all close at the same rate, boy was I wrong.

I noticed that my extraction gaps closed quickly once I entered active gap closure treatment. Took about 4 months. I had been in braces for about 9 months before we started active gap closure.
