How long will I have to live with buildups?

Got braces 6 days ago. I have buildups on my top first premolars due to the deep bite. Except the front teeth, these are the only ones that touch the bottom ones. The gaps between the tom and bottom molars are so big I can almost stick my tongue between them. I am kind of getting used to this but eating is rather difficult, especially that the teeth are sore. Will my molars magically meet after a while?

I've still got them on 7 months later but they do shave them down as your bite starts changing. Mine are a matter of millimeters now they're shaved back so far and I can eat 'normally' for a person with braces. They felt huge when I first had them put on and they drove me crazy but as far as food went I had soup, smoothies, etc and as my teeth became less tender I could still eat things like bread and chicken, cooked vegetables, fruit etc with my molars. I think you might find when the teeth aren't so tender it's not as restrictive. I definitely lost a fair deal of weight at first!

Ha, thanks Angelina that sounds good. I think after 9 days I am eating better already and the tenderness is the main limiting factor as exactly as you said. I do have have like 10 extra pounds to loose so this may not be such a bad thing :)

Been in braces for 6 months & I've had molar build ups the last 2 for a deep overbite. I'm still having trouble eating as my back teeth don't touch, just the tiny part on my molar that is built up.

11 months in and I still have them. Though they have worn down a significant amount.

I have the same problem!! The pain is gone, but the only real bits of my teeth that touch (even after I've worn them down a lot) on the sides are the molar build ups/bite turbos and as they're smooth, its SOOO hard to chew stuff! Half of the time I grind my food at the very back at my mouth around my gums but eugh, it's very frustrating.

Mine were on for about a year; only removed during jaw surgery. I still occasionally bump my front uppers on my lower brackets depending on where my teeth move.

I'm almost 2.5 years in and they're still on. They've worn down over time but they're still there.

I still have mine after 13 months. They've worn down a lot though.
