Brackets popping off and Sonicare!

#1 Post by Kaya »

I had brackets put in yesterday and today morning one of them popped off. I haven't eaten anything solid at all. Also, if brackets can come off this easy then how about it if I use the Sonicare for brushing? Also I have the ultra waterpik which I wanted to start using but was scared to start . Has anyone used the sonicare along with the waterpik and not have brackets popping off? Thanks.

I use both waterpik and sonicare toothbrush and haven't had a bracket pop off. I've had my braces on for 7.5 months. It sort of sounds like the one that popped off maybe wasn't attached well enough and might just be a case of having it put back on?

I had 2 brackets pop off in the first week for seemingly no reason at all. I got them fixed and, 3 months later, I haven't had anything like that happen since and I'm definitely not as careful now as I was in the first few days.

I once had a bracket pop off a couple of days after it was installed. The ortho assistant said that if a bracket comes off in the first week, it probably wasn't bonded properly.

I used a sonic type toothbrush for most of my brace time without any problems. In fact, my orthodontist recommends them.

I had my braces for 33 months and used a Sonicare several times a day without any breakages. It was probably just a poor bond on one of the brackets.

As long as it's not on a crown or other type of replacement tooth probably a one time thing related to a poor bonding of the bracket.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

I can agree with everyone else here! It's very commong for a bracket to come off in the beginning. I bit a bracket off the first week in my sleep due to grinding my teeth at night, but I haven't had one come off since! As you go on in your treatment you will get more comfortable with the sturdiness of your braces. Just today I ate an apple without cutting it or anything :o lol You'll be fine using your water pik and sonicare!
