Before & After

#1 Post by Mart »

Hi guys,

I thought I'd post this here as the surgery subform get very little in the way of traffic.

I've been wearing braces for over 9 years now (due to be removed on the 14th of June, can't wait!!), and 5 months ago I had Lefort 1 and BSSO surgery to correct an underbite of 11mm. Now that my swelling has almost completely gone I thought I'd post up my before and after photos just incase there are fellow metal mouths out there who may be having similar surgery in the near future.

Feel free to let me know your honest opinions on the final result, cheers guys!

The bottom third of your face looks noticeably wider in the bottom picture, perhaps it's partly due to the camera angle.

Was it a one piece Lefort, and did you have any impaction? I've not long been on the wait list for braces before eventual double jaw surgery on the NHS, so good to see some positive cases.

Thanks everyone! really appreciate the kind words.

My braces come off in 5 days and counting! Will try and post up a pic once they're finally off.

You're right about the widening of my lower jaw, I actually didn't realise how much it had changed until I created this before and after image a couple of weeks ago, the difference in width is really quite noticable.

Oh and surgery wise I had a single piece lefort 1 procedure with a 1mm impaction aswell as some counter clockwise rotation.

Also for those who have asked about treatment time it ended up taking this long due to a necessary gum surgery procedure and multiple tooth extractions in addition to a chnage in treatment plan half way through. I've explained in further detail in a previous post so feel free to find this in my post history.

I'm always so amazed at the difference jaw surgery can make to a person's face! It almost looks like you've had a nose job - and I mean this in a good way! Your facial features all fit together beautifully, whereas before things were a little sharper (but let's be honest, you were never hideous to begin with!)

You must be so pleased with the result! :)

Congratulations for finally reaching the elusive de-bracing date! Please eat apples/ nuts/ popcorn for all your braced up brethren that are still fighting the good fight

Amazing! I just passed these pics on to three other people. I can't believe how much your face changed...your jaw looks so much wider and far is filled out too. Im a lady but this makes me feel better about my own treatment. Im so worried about face changes but this goes to show that its good to have a little faith in the doc!

You look great, really. Very handsome.

Are those white colored bands in the second pic?
