New metalmouth at 33 :)...expander question?
Hi all! Long time reader- first time poster. I'm getting train tracks at the ripe old age of 33 and I am beyond excited! I have lived with a HUGE overbite (you can't even see my bottom teeth when my teeth come together) my entire life. I'm so ready for my new profile even though my ortho says- no less than 2 years in braces to get this. I got a palate expander on Thursday- not for actually expanding my palate, but to add support to my upper jaw since I've had 2 molars removed on the top right side. I was young and broke and they hurt, so I had them pulled instead of fixed :( I'm getting brackets on Monday, then bicuspid removal, THEN wired up after that. My first question (many more to come lol)- is it possible for the expander to move? It feels like it is hitting further back on my tongue than it used to. I have been "sucking" on it because the food gets stuck in there, but are the wires so flexible that it could tilt backwards?

So the palate expander expands your upper/lower palate. It pushes the two holds of your mouth to create space. I have a very small mouth and I have on. It's only been two weeks with it.

Hi- welcome! Thanks for the reply. Mine seems to have "settled" into place now. I don't really notice it anymore-except when i'm eating or talking lol. It's still hard to say the hard C sound. Not sure if anyone else notices, but i can hear it. I will be wearing this for most of my treatment.
