Getting Braces Off!

#1 Post by shenreice »

So, I am 7 weeks post op from MMA, and my teeth are killing me. It feels similar to biting into something cold with sensitive teeth. But I get this feeling if anything touches my teeth or lips. Is this just the nerves healing or something more? It is incredibly painful. Leading onto my next quety, I get my braces off on the 15th. I am terrified that it will be excruciatingly painful due to the sensitivity. At my past adjustment even removing the chains hurt. Is there anything I can do to make the removal easier and more pain free?

I would definitely tell the ortho about your teeth feeling sensitive. When I had my braces removed the sensitivity was quite high at times with the removal of the glue. I'm not saying that to freak you out here. Just definitely say something because maybe there's a typical desensitizing gel they can put on your teeth prior to removing your braces.

I would definitely take some ibuprofen about an hour before your appointment and then maybe again right before you go in. I also second asking them if they can use the topical anesthetic as well. Anything that will make things better for you!! Good luck with everything!! :)
