Teeny tiny springs/coils
Everything someone mentions coils or springs it seems to be the longer ones. I have teeny coils on the archive in between a couple of teeth. Does it serve the same purpose as the bigger ones?
Re: Teeny tiny springs/coils
I can't say what other people mean, but for me i was told i have coil springs and there's 2 springs on the arch wire that are pushing teeth apart to make space and 2 springs on the archwire that are all squished up to maintain the space that is already present so those teeth don't move. it sounds to me like yours are probably similar altho possible only one type or the other. ( i have one of each type on top and bottom where my upper and lower canines are misaligned on one side )
Re: Teeny tiny springs/coils
Thank you for your reply. I imagine they serve somewhat of a similar purpuse. Guess I'll ask the ortho at my first tightening tomorrow
Re: Teeny tiny springs/coils
Lol guys my tiny coils were just archwire stoppers. Lol
Re: Teeny tiny springs/coils
consider yourself lucky ! the ones that make space aren't a whole lot of fun after an adjustment ... not too bad for me after a few days but right after the adjustment they deffinatly hurt.
Re: Teeny tiny springs/coils
Jjtimken, I bet ugh! Believe it or not I'm ready for the power chains and elastics because it means I'm making progress
Re: Teeny tiny springs/coils
I had a couple of coils across two stubborn gaps (in addition to powerchains). When I asked their name, my ortho said they are "closing coils." Makes sense. But I tell ya, with all the metal in my mouth I would run for cover if I heard any rumbling of thunder! I felt like a human lightening rod!
