Please tell me extractions aren't that bad
Now stressing about the extraction on Thursday - its a lower incisor as that's the least invasive option...but still stressing about it.
Am hoping I'll be ok to go into work later - but google isn't reassuring me..

Stay away from Google -- just full of the rare complications, and you never really know the entire story. I had a couple of extractions before my braces were applied and everything went well. But that's just my case. Every procedure carries some risk --in this case, infection and bleeding -- but they are quite rare, especially if you follow post-op orders. Best of luck to you!

An incisor should pop out easier than a premolar. Most people who require extractions get their first premolars extracted, sometimes all four of them in one shot. I had 2 of mine pulled out and was fine by the time I got home. You'll be fine.

They're not, just have some extra gauze with you in case the bleeding starts up again and do take the aftercare instructions seriously so that you don't wind up with a dry socket. Google will give you the worst case of everything, I had a wisdom tooth with curved roots taken out once and the dentist spent so much time digging that the anesthetic was starting to wear off. There is still a retained root in there (which will probably have to be addressed) and I didn't even take any of the antibiotic that was prescribed, everything turned out fine.

Thank you that helps - apologies if I'm overposting (and stressing)

STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE!
I had 4 extractions (and my first adjustment immediately afterwards), and I was pretty freaked out about them, but it really wasn't that bad at all. They gave me 600mg of ibuprofen before I left the office, and I took another 600mg before I went to bed that night, but I probably didn't need it.
Good luck

Don't sweat over it... I extracted 4 premolars and 2 upper wisdom teeth at one go (under LA only). Honestly, no biggie.

I had 4 premolars extracted, two upper, two lower. Let me tell you, it was a BREEZE. I got in and numbed up well, after that they proceeded to let the anesthetic work it's magic. The pulling of teeth itself wasn't painful at all, as they stopped routinely to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. You will hear some knocking and banging here and there, but I assure you, your mind is just exaggerating it! The recovery was also not too bad, luckily my bleeding stopped within the first few hours, but I kept the gauze in for at least 8 hours to be sure. I did have something called a 'liver clot' happen, but it is extremely rare.

I was really scared and nervous about it too but it's really not that bad!
The only pain is the injection for the anesthesia but it was quick.
The process of extraction itself did not hurt at all although you'll feel pressure in your jaw but nothing serious.
I even stopped bleeding while still in the clinic.
I only took a painkiller the night after the surgery before the anesthesia worn out and the next day the pain was not that bad at all that I decided to skip painkillers.
it's almost painless. It healed after three days :)
Goodluck!

You will be numb. If you speak at work, bad idea. You most likely won't be bleeding.Blurple wrote:Now stressing about the extraction on Thursday - its a lower incisor as that's the least invasive option...but still stressing about it.

Unlikely event you get dry socket you will know about it. My teeth were sensitive, toothpaste sorted that out.
Re: Please tell me extractions aren't that bad
I got 2 teeth out on Monday and getting another extracted next Thursday, trust me i was worrying for nothing. Do not read anything on google because i made that mistake. If anything its uncomfortable feeling a hole in your gum afterwards and the taste of blood for the first couple of hours. It's been 2 days since mine came out and i have no pain, no taste of blood or anything, i still can't eat on that side of my mouth as i don't want food stuck in the hole but it's nothing to worry about. They numb your mouth before they take the tooth out, and i promise you can't feel anything, just a bit of pressure. Don't stress about it.

Thank you - all your replied make me feel a lot better
Keep telling myself this tome tomorrow it will be done (and a gummy crone I will be LOL!).
The ortho did say she could take out the 2 bicuspids but preferred the single incisor (which sounds much better to be too), disadvantage is that the midline won't match but I can live with that x
