Argh - gaps appearing!

#1 Post by Chocoholic »

Hey All,

Just a little freaked out as I've never had any gaps in my teeth, but as my bottom ones are becoming less crowded, some gaps are forming on the outside 3 from front. I know this is pretty normal, but what susually happens to close the gaps up again?

I can relate to your concerns. I never had gaps on my bottom teeth, and now there is one really obvious gap (at least to me). I know that in time it will close, but it was so strange to see it there. I hope that they close soon for both of us. :)

I know how you feel too. I've never had gaps, but due to wearing elastics I had one appear between my top front tooth and the one next to it. What they did was put a powerchain on to close it up. It was kind of interesting to see it close completely within six hours. I also had two rotated bottom teeth next to my front teeth. When they were straightened, there were gaps, but more like the "triangles" that people sometimes get. At first I was thinking well I'm going to look great with these black triangle gaps between my teeth  , but they are slowly closing up as my teeth move around, so eventually it will not be a major issue. I know it feels and looks wierd to have gaps when you are not used to it, but don't worry, at some point everything will be closed up and come into alignment. :)

Don't worry about gaps during your braces treatment! It's all part of the furniture rearrangement.

If this helps, I'll yap about myself again:
Developed a big (1.5 - 2mm) gap on my top row (developed gradually since May)
Mentioned it at my adjustment, got a 'power chain' across 6 teeth (the gap was in the middle)

GAP CLOSED in less than 24 hours - no kidding!
