Removal this week!

#1 Post by Lauradarlin »

So my 12 month treatment morphed into 14 months and they're coming off on Wednesday! I'm actually kinda scared and a bit sad to see them go, is this normal?! Any guidance on life after braces? I'm pretty sure I heard my ortho say he wanted me to have bonded, Essix AND hawley retainers - is this normal?! Will I still go in for check ups?

I don't have any advice because I'm 9 months into 12-18
Months but congratulations!
I can understand being nervous. Getting them off after so long is as big a. Hangs as getting them on. Please keep us posted.

Congratulations! You must be super excited to have them removed. Have you checked out the forum below on life post braces?

Ah thanks for the well wishes everyone, I'm now brace free! Wasn't the most pleasant experience of my life, the removal of the actual brackets made me feel like my teeth were going to snap but other than that it wasn't too bad. My main concern had been staining around the brackets but all ok there thank god! She fixed bonded retainers for now which have given me a slight lisp and feel a little bit funny on my tongue but I just can't stop running my tongue over my lovely straight teeth - defo all worth it!
