Metal on top and ceramic on bottom?

Metal on top and ceramic on bottom?
I've seen a lot of people on YouTube who have ceramic braces on top and metal on the bottom. I currently have metal on the top and am thinking of getting ceramic on the bottom. Does anyone have experience with this? I have an edge-to-edge bite so worried the ceramic brackets might intrude more onto my bottom lip and be difficult to talk with!
Re: Metal on top and ceramic on bottom?
Generally ceramic isn't done on the bottom because of the risk of your upper incisors hitting the bottom brackets, which could chip your teeth (or worse).

Nobody is going to see the bottom ones, if you already have metal on top just go for metal on the bottom.
Re: Metal on top and ceramic on bottom?
Thanks for the answers! I think for aesthetic reasons I'd prefer ceramics on the bottom as my bottom teeth tend to show more when I speak.
If they're likely to cause problems with the top teeth chipping then I'll stay away!

Ceramics are larger brackets than stainless, break more easily, and need less pressure applied to them.
I'm not sure if your ortho would put ceramics on your lowers; with the much greater risk of you upper teeth coming in contact with the brackets themselves; either breaking brackets or your teeth.

Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

Re: Metal on top and ceramic on bottom?
My orthodontist wouldn't fit ceramic on the bottom. If you've got metal on the top, just get the same on the bottom. I have full metal braces and I prefer them. Ceramic braces are still noticeable and if anything draw more attention. People see something but aren't sure what and do a double take. When someone has metal braces it's kind of obvious when you talk but not a big deal
