Was originally quoted 12-15k from orthos willing to use TADs, as well as 2 that said to have surgery 30k w braces. After I paid roughly 3k to save one molar with a root canal and zirconia crown 20 years after braces as a kid, that was enough motivation for me to get in braces. And I saved about 10-20k by going to a university for treatment. There have been some hiccups. I always have the same supervising dr, but I am now on my 2nd student and may possibly have to finish my treatment with a third, but that is fine with me.

I live in Southern California (Hemet,CA) and I am paying $3,500 for my braces treatment. This orthodontist was against extractions (I have overcrowding) and suggested a palatal expander instead. The treatment cost is inclusive of the expander, braces, and retainers. My treatment time is 24-26 months which includes 6 months of wearing the expander.

I visited another orthodontist who was asking for $4,500 and recommended 4 bicuspid extractions. The $4,500 included braces and retainers but not the cost of extractions. The treatment time at that office was 22 months.

My sister is paying over $5,000 for her braces at a major orthodontic practice (Western Dental) in the same city. She had braces about 5 yrs prior, but didn't complete the treatment.

I'm so glad I live in a country where care is regulated by the government. Here the government sets the prices on Dental care etc so a Ortho can not charge more or less.
