#1 Post by ratosambo1 »

Hi guys how have braces affected you life, your self confidence. Does anyone have any regrets.
I had a diastema and I look like a completely different person.
I have two more months to go but for the first time I show my teeth in photos.

Hi there. I have full metal braces, female age 50. I've had them 12 weeks now and hopefully just 6 months to go. Honestly do not regret a thing, despite early discomfort etc. Self esteem not affected at all. Embrace them. You're making a change, something positive for you. I smile as usual, never stop chatting and eat out as usual. Your braces will take you on a journey - wear them with pride

I hated my smile and always covered my mouth when smiling so I got braces. Now one of my canines are chipped and I am so sad about it and he's not providing anything else beside grinding (?) the other tooth too. I am so bummed and starting to regret.

I hate the need of using more than one toothbrush all the time, and cant clean my teeth properly in less than 10 minutes, so i cant clean them well when in hurry....and i think ill have to wear them for a long time since a tooth didnt grow out so i just had a surgery uncovering it and connecting it to the braces, but its like 1 cm above all other teeth so i recieved a really long coil between left 2nd and 4th tooth and tiny bracket that connects to the wire with some kind of a neck, not directly placed on the bracket. Looks weird, and gave me some pain because of the coil rubbing against my lips but it will do its job for sure....

Besides having to put on and replace elastics and having a better smile now than probably ever before it hasn't really changed my life much.

The end of braces will only really be the mid point for me though as I will get 2 permanent implants after.
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17

Braces have really boosted my self-confidence by an infathomable amount. Before braces, I had terrible teeth that looked extremely ugly. I wasn't able to get braces up until a few months ago. With extractions, I pulled the trigger, and I am so glad that I did. It's truely amazing going from hiding your crooked teeth, to freely smiling and showing off your cool colors. :D

Just got elastics (gorilla) on today, along with a new heavy wire and baby pink powerchains. Totally loving this color, I regret not asking my ortho for the neon elastics though!
