In desperate need of advice.

#1 Post by Jimbo28 »

I'm 30 years old and I just want my jaw/ face fixed. Both my dental arches are pretty narrow.
I've had braces on for a year for the second time since I was a teenager. Two upper premolars were extracted when I was a kid causes my arches to collapse eventually. My lower jaw grew some more and I had an underbite.

I'm going to a guy now who does the slow palate expansion thing. It's aggravating to have all this stuff in my mouth. He said he could bring
balance to my jaws. I went from 29mm intermolar width to 37/38 mm intermolar width with no tipping. Thing is....

My profile still looks bad. He said I have a midface defiency. I guess I just want a more dramatic change than something this incredibly slow. I call him and he assures me I will like the results and I won't want jaw surgery.

My face lacks jaw projection like most people. My nose looks big and my back lower teeth are crowded. I want some that will make my mouth bigger to fit all my teeth and make it less narrow and fix my profile. Also anybody knows why one would distalize molars to make space? How would this work? Any procedure that develops/grows both dental arches?

Narrow arch and lower teeth tilting in. Feels trapped.

My side profile. (Sorry about the beard). I feel like both jaws are short and recessed. I would like some kind of surgery after braces to improve it.

Jaw surgery is usually done in conjunction with braces, so if you're interested in surgery, you should consult with a jaw surgeon now, so he or she can provide instructions to the orthodontist.

I understand what you are going through.
I have an underveloped side of my face, but knowing that i'll never have the money to do surgery, i decide to just try the braces and see if they can improve the situation.

If you have the financial opportunity go to a maxillofacial surgeon asap. He is gonna decide what is best and how to direct also the manipulation with braces

I don't know about your teeth, but your profile looks fine to me. You could spend tens of thousands of dollars on oromaxillary surgery, but why? Things could end up much worse than where you are today. Just my 2 cents.
