New here!

#1 Post by Nikki122487 »

Hi all! I'm really glad I found this forum as I don't know any adults around me with braces. Back story: I'm a 29 year old mother of 4. I am also a therapist for abused and neglected children in the foster car system. Needless to say I talk a lot! lol I am set to go for my braces on April 17th and am trying to decide between all metal, 1/2 ceramic (on top) 1/2 medal (bottom) or all ceramic. Would really appreciate some help and info on this from individuals who have experience with it.
Thanks !

Hello! I just had my braces applied today. I'm also 29 and talk a lot at my jobs. I got ceramic uppers and metal lowers. I'm glad I got ceramic uppers... much less noticeable.. although they do make my teeth look a bit more yellow.

I have ceramic uppers and lowers. Depending on your bite, it's an option. So far, I like mine. They can be a little bulky but you get used to them. If you're worried about staining, get light blue or gray ligs. I have clear ones and haven't gotten any staining but I haven't eaten curry. I have had cheesy foods and tomatoe sauce without a problem however if you smoke or drink coffee you might just prefer the colored ligs.

Interesting my braces don't have ligs. What brand are your braces?
