Hi, I've been fully braced for around 4 months and now I am noticing that the top of my bracket on my bottom jaw is rubbing against the roof of my mouth just behind my front teeth and cutting me, if I close my mouth the bracket fits right into the wound and it's very sore and painful. Is this normal? Can my ortho do anything to help with this? I wake up randomly during the night because I clench my jaw when I am asleep and because of this, the bracket cuts the roof of my mouth even more and I am in pain so it wakes me up.
Ouch, that sounds painful! Did your orthodontist not give you any wax? It can be a huge help if you have a bracket that is cutting you. You can also buy it at the dental section of any drug store. Make sure to pick some up the next time you go to the ortho also!
