I went to see my ortho, and he just told me to get 8 hours of sleep in a dark room with no electronics b/c he couldn't see any problems with my palatal expansion. Apparently if this doesn't work, he's going to take off my wisdom tooth, which has never given me any problem.
The pain that I feel happens shortly after a click when I open my jaw. The pain occurs on the sid of my face and travels up to my ear. It's on the same side of my face where i have the crossbite and is being expanded.
I'm not sure if my ortho is just flower with me atm. There's no way that it's my wisdom tooth that's causing the pain.. I feel like he just wants me to get the surgery so he can get more $$

This doesn't make any sense at all. Was that exactly what your ortho said?scorpia95 wrote:I went to see my ortho, and he just told me to get 8 hours of sleep in a dark room with no electronics b/c he couldn't see any problems with my palatal expansion. The pain that your are describing sounds like a TMJ pain, which I think, if I'm not wrong is not treated by an ortho, you have to see a TMJ specialist for. If you don't trust or agree with your ortho's treatment plan, perhaps seek a second opinion?

Yup he just gave me those 2 suggestions (8 hours sleep or wisdom tooth extraction) and sent me home... have an appointment in 2 days to have my braces tightened. I'm going to ask him to take a look again, since I didn't realize my jaw was clicking till after I went to see him. Hopefully he gives me a better explanation this time or I'm going to switch doctors. I just wanted to make sure I'm not being crazy.. Thanks!!

I think you need to find a new ortho. Have a read of my post. It may offer you some help.
