Can my front 6 teeth be lowered to their original position?

#1 Post by ThatPerson »

Hi everyone, when I was around 14 I had 2 upper bicuspids extracted and underwent retraction orthodontics to pull my upper back to meet my lower jaw, I only had mild crowding on my upper jaw and a slight overjet; since the treatment my lower has grown to a more normal size, and i bitterly regret ever going to that particular orthodontist in the first place.

Anyway I'm now undergoing reversal and am currently reopening extraction spaces, but one thing is still bothering me. The initial orthodontic retraction treatment somehow left my front 6 teeth
higher in my mouth than they were naturally, to the point where they are barely visible when I am speaking, this was never the case before the retraction orthodontics and I am wondering if anyone knows can this be reversed as well? ie the front 6 teeth lowered a few mm to improve aesthetics.
I am 1 month away from my next orthodontic visit and I'll have to wait until then to ask my orthodontist but the picture below illustrates what has happened to me, although it isn't my picture.
If you compare the before and after you can see clearly that the front 6 teeth that have been retracted now sit higher in the persons mouth, reducing teeth show

My Ortho did something similar to that but maybe not on all 6. I'm pretty mad at her for doing it without even telling me about it, and more so for not doing anything about it, despite my insistent complaints... Well if she doesn't set things back then someone else will before I remove my braces. I hate my smile now and there's no way in hell I'll keep it. Hope you can sort things out with your Ortho more easily!

I know what you're going through
There is a picture before and after my treatment, depresses me to look at it.
I don't know how he managed to ruin them so much, the front teeth literally got pushed upwards.

I'm pretty sure mine did this to try to open my bite, but this is the stupidest way of doing it, since the main reason for my deep bite are overerupted LOWER teeth! She just hid away my upper teeth and leveled them to the same length, leaving an ugly smile and uneven gum line. I had an appointment last week to reposition the lower archwire that came loose at the back and told her I was this close to calling it quits, if she did not start listening to my complaints, namely the fact that I hate my smile and that she ruined a perfectly good one, even with crooked teeth, and that she MUST set things right. This time she appears to have agreed, but I don't really care if she doesn't, I'll just go and have that done somewhere else. There is no way in h*** I'll keep this stupid smile, I really liked it pre-braces, now I really, really hate it. I think some orthos are just way too focused on teeth and too little on the people carrying those teeth, which is really a shame...
