Opinions on flossing? Other techniques?

#1 Post by Kkkkinkee »

I've never flossed in the 3+ years of my braces, and my ortho has praised me on good hygiene. Wondered how much of a difference it can really make? What else do you do to keep the chompers clean?

I don’t think flossing is unnecessary for me because when I haven’t done it in a while and then do it it’s quite nasty (both bleeding and unfreshness), so obviously I do need to clean there. I think the need for it depends bit on how much space there’s between the teeth, my teeth are very close together so I guess “things” easily get stuck between them.

Well, before braces, I never had the habit of flossing. I brushed religiously day and night and that was it. I did not floss for more than 20 years.

Just before getting braces, I tried flossing, and the floss stank to high heavens and my gums bled. So obviously I needed to floss. I now floss twice a day and am always flossing out all kinds of left over stuff stuck between the teeth. So yea, flossing is necessary for me.

Dipping them sounds like a great idea! Used interdental brushes for a bit but they irritated me how dry they were, Ill give that a try
