My daughter is in braces. Things are definitely looking worse instead of better as her face is sinking in and her lips are getting much smaller. Profile is worse and lower jaw seems to be going back even farther. What are some ways I can suggest to the orthodontist to reverse everything? Taking her braces off is really not an option right now, so what appliances or techniques (if any) can be used while wearing braces? TADS? Please help! I am desperate to correct everything while the changes are new and hopefully more reversible.
I am looking to widen the arch back as well as move her teeth forward.

Re: Best way to expand arch while in braces???
Of course you need to discuss your concerns with the orthodontist and get his/her assessment and more importantly, his/her reaction to your concern. It seems hard for me to imagine that these changes are related to braces, but of course I am not a dental professional. You deserve some answers. Perhaps some of what you are seeing is a bit of an optical illusion. My braces tended to make my lips stick out slightly more (I had Damons, which are bulkier than traditional metal brackets) and in a profile view, perhaps her chin appears to have receded. I really don't know but I do hope it is nothing serious. Best of luck to you and your daughter.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but I can tell you first hand (and from what I've been reading) that Orthos can be very hard to reason with... I myself have experienced so many adverse effects, obviously caused by braces, but she always dismisses them and I'm so fed up with all of it that I feel like ripping them out myself: unnecessary extractions, ruined smile, TMD, and now a narrower mouth that causes me trouble speaking. But no, it's all in my head. Biggest regret ever...
See if you can show him some pre-braces photos to help make your point. Best of luck to you.

I totally understand. I am going through the same difficulty with my orthos. He is always so busy, and didn't answer my quesitons.
