I'm 26 months into braces now and hating the way I look. After extractions I lost a lot of lip tone, my midlines are totally off and it's throwing my face out of symmetry.
Since I got braces for aesthetic purposes, this has made me very depressed. My face looks contorted to the side with thinner, asymmetrical lips, which used to be plump and luscious, and it hurts to see myself like this.
Each time I raised the issues with my orthodontist, she appeared to understand, or waved away my concerns saying that it wasn't noticeable. Well, I notice. I know my face best since I have to live with it and am distressed about the negative changes.
What can I do to get the results that I'll be happy to walk away with? How can I communicate better with my ortho?
Thanks for reading <3

Hi There- I feel for you. My answer is to google like crazy. Take a look at this YouTube video for rubber band config for midline shift.

Aesthetic and facial changes are pretty subjective so I can't comment on that. I guess the only advice I can give is to perhaps write down a list of exactly what you expect as a finish and then communicate your wish list to your ortho. Be precise or specific about what you expect/hope to achieve. So at least there will not be any guesses and if your expectations can or cannot be achieved, your ortho would be able to advise and explain up front so you know what to expect before debanding.
