My son is 19 both Canines are impacted,
the first orthodontist looked at his x-ray without looking at him and said it has to be removed because of his age - because he’s too old to be treated!! I am in shock,
we’re looking for a second opinion and if needed third, I see people older on this forum older than 19 and they still trying to improve and correct their impacted teeth I’m not losing hope.

Re: Impacted canine at 19
Definitely seek out another opinion. It's weird that he didn't even look at your son, just the x-rays. At 19, he's definitely not too old. I'm 43 and just got braces last week.
Re: Impacted canine at 19
Did he mean the impacted canine had to be removed or the baby tooth removed so that the canine can come down?
I'm 25 and I had my impacted canine surgery last year and it has successfully come down.

Thank you for replies! yes ortho doctor said -Since his baby teeth still intact she can put a crown on baby teeth and impacted canine’s should be completely removed!
I’m looking for other opinions , I also did my research to find out how severe my son’s case is -both of his impacted canines pretty low one is almost touching the gums , it’s behind his front teeth but they are very wide V shape angle almost symmetrical,
I am extremely nervous about this situation my son is in college and he has to focus on his studies and I’m really worried about bad timing, I just recently discovered this problem none of the previous dentists noticed it. All his teeth were grawling perfectly we never realized that his canines are baby teeth until he turned 18, Now I’m trying to do everything to correct this situation but that’s the worst timing ever because of the college,
Next week we are going to see another doctor in Manhattan and then another one and then another one I’m absolutely devastated that I missed this in his childhood, now I will try to do anything to correct this I have no idea how much it’s gonna cost me.
