That's very interesting, especially that the founders will dump in another $20M to save that sinking ship. I don't quite understand why the pandemic hurt them, as I would imagine it would flourish in a world under lock-down. Thanks for sharing.

That is interesting. I have noticed how their advertising has changed over the years to where the care is now "doctor directed". Never understood how they got away with the all at home model Seems like practicing without a license. I see other suspect ads as well as from Aspen Dental where exams and x-rays are free for patients without insurance. Charging patient's insurance companies in the event that they have insurance is insurance fraud! What is the new one in the last couple of months with the at home Valplast partials? That would be practicing without a license as well.

I bet more of these companies will be going under as time goes on. IMO, they prey on the uninformed.

The fact that Smile Direct Club's business model is based on just creating a series of aligners for their clients without an orthodontist being involved in the process should be a clear sign that Smile Direct Club is a scam (though sadly, many people out there seem to have easily fallen for their scam).

It's nice to know that Smile Direct Club is finally getting what they deserve by going bankrupt.
