Bonded retainer and bleaching

#1 Post by weird_wired »

Just curious: I was planning to have bleaching again once I get my braces off (so this is a little premature, as I only just got started!)

The first time I had bleaching, I had custom-made trays done. They were expensive, but of course I could use them for life, and they fitted perfectly to my teeth in a very discreet way, meaning I could even wear them during the day if I needed to. That is until I decided to get all my teeth straightened so unfortunately - or fortunately! - they'll no longer fit.

If I get a bonded retainer, is it still possible to have these trays made? I'm trying to work out how the dentist could take the impressions with a wire kind of in the way - ie without the force of the rubber mould-making stuff pulling the wire off, or getting stuck around it.

My ortho plans to use a bonded retainer on me when I get my braces off. I will also wear an essix retainer full time for one year, then just at night. My ortho gives me one whitening treatment to do at home in my retainer.
Impressions on 12/5/05
Full Braces(ceramic top, metal bottom) 12/19/05
