I think the quick progress has everything to do with the extractions. Teeth move faster if there aren't as many barriers. So if you have no extractions (like me) your progress will be slower because more teeth have to move out of each others way instead of being able to move into gaps. Even so, that is some amazing progress. I bet you can't believe your own mouth when you look in the mirror!

I think I found that link about the Damons on these boards somewhere b4 i got my braces cuz i wanted to know what I was getting myself into.
