Braces off early?
Hi I've been looking around these forums for a couple of days and decided to register. I've had my braces on for about 6 months now. During the original consultation, my ortho told me it would take about 2 years for my treatment. But I've read some stories about people getting them off early so I asked one of my friends who has them as well about that. He said that it's best to stick to what the ortho originally said. But if the ortho tells you they can come off early, is it okay? Or should you just stick with the initial consultation?
I just went through the same process. I had an estimate of 18-24 months and I was braced in early August. I thought - okay I'll just ask if we are closer to 18 or 24 months. He couldn't tell me . He said maybe next time if they see big improvement on the lower arch they can give me a better estimate. So I am figuring now 21 months!
I am either hard headed, totally optimistic or in denial. I don't know which!

I was originally told I was going to have a 24 month treatment plan (Not counting the treatment I had before I moved to a new state). That meant my braces would come off in June...being a total glass half empty girl, I was planning on the coming of in November...they are actually coming off EARLY!!!! One week from today! I totally lucked out, this stuff NEVER happens to me! My ortho said it was because I did so well wearing my elastics!
