KK: Great Job! The great thing too is I know for you and probably me these great habits will carry through with us even after we get our braces off.
I have an interesting question. Are the hygienists in a different office than your dentist? My dentist is my hygienist and I hate it! I don't think he does a great job of cleaning my teeth and I would rather have a woman do it. Sorry all you men out there. It is just a personal preference thing. I am thinking about leaving my dentists after all these years because he is not supporting me well with my endeavor to have braces. He is just sooooo conservative. He is the family dentist and he told my Mom that the braces will not fix my grinding problem. I'm like "well yeah, if you "say" it won't it won't. Sometimes there is some amount of mind over matter type things that go on with healing. It is not all just mechanical. Anyway I am rambling. I was just wondering if that was the norm in Australia and elsewhere. Maybe I should post a separate discussion?
Hi jcdamon3, I'm in Oz too and my dentist is also my hygienist. I'm not due for a check/clean until August, so am not sure what the drill will be (no pun intended).
That's awesome that you had such a good review at your cleaning...I just get told that I'm not doing a good enough job. I could probably have not a single tooth in my head and they would say the same thing!
Anyhow, good job!

bracedagain wrote:That's one reason I stayed with my dentist/ortho. They also have a very good hygenist (she) who does a very thorough job. I like the "one stop shopping" deal there. Everyone I've talked to said he is a very good ortho. I'll be finding out in a few months after the periodontist get done with me! That's a whole different story about that procedure!
I go to the same office for all my treatment in GA; Nanston Dental Group, but I see 3 different people; My Ortho, Dentist, and Hygienist are 3 different persons in the same office. Even when I had to have my Wisdom teeth removed, the Oral Surgeon was different but located in the same office. The office is huge, there are 6 dentist, 3 hygienist, 1 ortho, and 1 oral surgeon located in thye office, and twice a week they have a visiting specialist.
My dentist and Hygienist are two different people. I actually wish my dentist was doing the cleaning just because I don't like the fact that three different people are looking into my mouth (dentist, ortho, hygienist)...one is bad enough! lol
My ortho is a friend of my dentist and his office is about 15 minutes away from my dental clinic. Not too bad.

You're my inspiration. Would you care to share your cleaning routine?
Right now, I rinse, brush with the toothbrush the Ortho gave me. I'm using Sensodyne toothpaste. After I brush, I rinse again. I only floss before bedtime and do a fluoride rinse. The whole process is so time consuming but I would like to get a good report card like you.
