Wednesday is the day

#1 Post by TigerJohn »

Hi,

I'm new here, and tomorrow morning is the day I get braces, both upper and lower, I believe.

I expect this will be a two year deal, and I'm a little apprehensive. After all, I'm...over 30 years old.

So I thought I would visit here for any advice experienced people might have.

So thanks in advance.

Welcome TigerJohn,

I am 29 and also starting the process. I have an expander in, getting some teeth extracted in two weeks, then braces after that.

This site has great information. And the people are pretty cool too!!

Hi Tiger John - I'm 30(ish) with braces too. Got mine in Feb. This site helps a lot, it's just nice to be able to "share" and read all the other users awesome info.

Regarding the braces themselves, I'll be honest, the first couple days really stink, the first couple weeks aren't so much fun either, and then you get used to them and they're fine. I didn't believe it, but it's true! Good luck tomorrow...

Sillygirl, OneTime,

Thanks.

Maybe I'll stop by this message board after.

If only to vent, or ask more questions.

Sorry, Joe, I didn't see you there for some reason.

Thanks to you, too.

Hey TigerJohn Welcome to the archwired community! This is the coolest place to be, trust me you will become a braces expert pretty soon 8) I got braced 8 months ago :) I was 26 then, now Im 27. Dont worry about your age, I see lots of people of different ages coming in to get adjustments. I agree w/ KK on the lip balm- thats the best tip I ever received too. Your lips tend to get super dry while they get the braces on. Before I got mine on, I made sure I ate a nice lunch, brushed and flossed real good--and stocked up on soft foods to get me by. Im not gonna lie though when they were through putting on my top braces I felt like I couldnt even close my mouth :o But you get adjusted to it (I did a week or so after). Now I eat whatever (carefully though hehehe)
