Reverse curve archwires

#1 Post by ebjones1 »

Someone may have already posted something about this, but I was just curious. For those of you who've had reverse curve archwires on the bottom to level out the teeth, approximately how long did it take for the teeth to level? I wasn't expecting to get this wire until later in my treatment, but my ortho installed it at my second adjustment yesterday. I know all treatment plans differ, but I wanted to see what other people's experiences have been. :D

eb - I have a reverse curve archwire (although I'm not sure if its on the top, the bottom or both).

Sorry, I can't help with your question apart from to say that I've had this wire(s) for about 3 months (out of 6 months) and while my uppers appear to have levelled alot my lowers are lagging behind. I had thought the reverse curve wire was part of fixing a deep bite - to flare out the teeth before elastics pull them in.

Would love to know for sure what they are intended to fix if anyone knows.

HI
I got my RC wire on two months ago on the bottom. I have no idea how long they will be on. I've been in braces for almost 18 months. I also got another set of springs on top this time to push my top molars back.

The RC wire hass started to level the bottoms out nicely but it will be quite a while until they are where they belong.

I only had mine on for three weeks, as I was told they work very quickly. I'm not sure what they're for!
