whats ur best soft foods/meals...when ur really hurting?

#1 Post by kibracesitall »

Hi all
almost two months in my braces...and exactly one day in my quad expander (the banjo :rawk: ) and i'd like to know what do u eat?
as for me...well i got dietary restraints...i am very lactose intolerant (lactard  ) so i tend to do almost vegan meals (love fish and turkey)
so here is my list

When I can't chew:
1. Cream of Wheat (Farina)
2. Malt o Meal
3. Soup i.e, broth
4. Mashed potatoes

When the chewing gets a little better
1. pasta
2. cake :P
3. soggy cereal
4. soft breads
5. french fries...soft

When the pain is gone:
1. EVERYTHING...

obviously i need to expand my repertoire...so what is your food regime?

I'm not subject to the same "hardware" and dietary restrictions as you are and haven't had much discomfort to date, so I can eat most things.

I am trying to avoid nuts and other hard foods because they can - and in my case, did - damage the hardware.

Thanks a million bazillon for that linda...as much as i searched this site pre and post getting braced, I can't believe I missed that handy little list. I will be working off of it from now on :)
Btw, any one have any luck with taking pain meds, I'm wondering if it would help me chew? My dh had braces as a teenager and that's what he remembers.
