What size of elastics do u wear to close an extracted gap?

Usually what size of elastics do you wear to close an extracted gap?

My lower left premolar was extracted, and the elastic rubber band was tied between bilateral incisor and the left last molar tooth. I found that last molar tooth has rotated. So now I switched the rubber band to tie to the 2nd from last molar. I used 2 #14 elastic band.
