Are Ligs needed?

They go each bracket but Do they have a purpose or are they just for decoration? :? I didnt get any on yet but I was just inquiring about them...... Thanks Everyone :D

Thank You, I appreciate your replies. I am wondering now if thats partly why I barely felt anything my first few days except of the actual braces. The assistant asked me if I wanted them on the day I was braced or at my first adjustment. I opted for the 1st adjustment day. Im looking forward to getting them on so I can feel at least something. Thanks again.
