turtle turtle turtle

So I went for my third adjustment today, thinking I was just getting a regular ol' checkup with a lig change. I got new wires last time.. so that's all I was scheduled for. However, when I went in, he started making all these changes! I got a new, thicker wire on the bottom - He put in a reverse curve last adjustment, and changed it back to a plain .018 this time. I now have a powerchain going across my front six teeth. And then he said the dreaded - ELASTICS! I only have one, though.. left side. He also left off the powerchains I had going across my extraction gaps on the bottom. They're only about halfway closed, but I'm assuming they're far enough along that there's no need anymore. I'll post some pics this weekend.

I was really excited, though! I've apparently made quite a bit of progress to have all that changed in just one adjustment, especially when I was just supposed to get a lig change!

Congrats on your progress. I'm turtle, turtle, turtle too, but for me it just means everything is going in SLOOOW motion. I think I'd love it if the ortho would even mention elastics. At least that would mean I'm getting somewhere!

Great news on moving forward in your treatment, ebjones1. My doctor has me in Seals, what ever that means - maybe because they can swim in all the saliva I am making???
Had Damon 3 / Smart Clips for almost 2 years
Now in Hawley upper 10 hours/day, permanent lower retainers

The elastic isn't bad at all like I anticipated. When I was sitting in the chair, he told the assistant to "put her in turtles.." blah blah technical term blah blah.. but all I heard was an animal name and I knew instantly what was coming! I had a really bad headache yesterday that I thought was caused by the elastic, but I think it was more because I didn't eat prior to my appointment and didn't feel like fooling with the elastic right when I got to work. I expected to feel bad this morning, but I'm completely used to it already! I can't even feel it in my mouth.. but these seem like pretty low strength - I don't see anything as far as sizes on the bag, but the picture of a turtle has a "3" on his shell.. whatever that means!

I was a little apprehensive when I found out he was doing all this new stuff - I don't like being caught off guard - But I'm really excited now. I know I've made progress, especially since I've only been braced less than three months and have already had wires changed twice!! :D

For all that has happened to me in the past months (for those of you who read my previous post about dating).. this has made me feel a lot better to know that positive things are occuring. You guys all make it a better transition, too!!
