Absolutely gutted.

#1 Post by Chris87 »

I suffer from a fairly big underbite and have had braces for the last 18 months, in September I will be going to university and was hoping to have had the surgery done by then so I could start afresh, it's so bloody hard not being able to smile people just think you are a miserable sod (my underbite is not noticable even from the side so long as i keep my teeth a little apart and my mouth closed, so this is what I do)

Anyway when I went to the dentist 6 weeks ago he told me it would be roughly 2 months until the surgery could be done, then I went again yesterday and he told me it will be a minimum of 6 months, which is going to be at least 2/3 of the way through my first term of uni. How can it suddenly go from being 2 months away to 6 months?

Ah well, another 6 months of not looking at or talking to people I guess

I really suggest you call up your dentist and ask for some explanation. Just say that you don't understand how it went from 2 months to 6 months...hopefully he/she can give you some clarifications.

Good luck :)

Sorry, by dentist I meant orthodontist.

Apparently it is because there is a 3mm gap between my two back molars on the lower jaw which needs to be closed before surgery, I guess he must have just overlooked it last time.
