Wow, I see I'm not alone! Thanks for all of your feedback. I am hoping to conquer this bad habit that I've been fighting all my life! Good luck to all!

I don't usually bite my nails, but I have always chewed the skin around my nails (like idislikebraces) and I chew my lips. I was feeling the same way as most....I know it is a bad habit and it is gross, but it was a great stress reliever. Since I got braced on June 15th, I can't do either! My braces are placed fairly low on my teeth and I just can't seem to be able to get a grip to chew.

Hopefully, after 21-27 months in braces, I won't feel the need to chew anything!

ummmm, be careful. It's a lot more difficult to bite your nails with braces on. I still do it unfortunately, but more often then not you do a lot more damage to your nails the pre-braces, and it hurts!

I have bitten my nails for all of my life, to the point where they would bleed, stop the blood, then bite again. However, since I have had my spacers in and now my braces on for almost a week, it is IMPOSSIBLE to bite them. So I am really looking forward to having pretty nails for the first time in my life. If they grow half as fast as my hair, I'm in good shape. My hair usually grows 8-12 inches a year. Don't want my nails that long lol, but will be nice if they grow fast.
