Inman aligners

Re: Inman aligners
Just taken out my IA this afternoon and felt that the tooth with the composite on the back of it is quite loose ..!! Has anyone else had wobbly teeth? Realise they have to loosen to move but not felt it to this extent before. A bit of a shock! Reluctant to put the IA back in again. My dentist is not contactable until Monday morning, so not sure whether to leave it out until then...?
Re: Inman aligners
I haven't gotten that far into treatment but was reading past pages last night and read where some had experienced loose teeth and that they will settle.
Re: Inman aligners
Hi Tennessee. Thanks for the reasurrance. Guess it was just the shock of feeling the "wobble"! Had a look on Google and it seems quite a common occurrence. I obviously knew it was happening but just hadn't felt it before. Must stop being such a wuss ..!! Especially as I had laser eye surgery two days ago and that was really scary....so a loose tooth should be a piece of cake!

Re: Inman aligners
Yep, my lower teeth are often very wobbly. I made the dentist swear to me that they wouldn't fall out and so far they haven't.
My upper molars on one side are killing me. Even when I have the IA out I can't eat on that side as it's way too painful. I can't remember if it was like this in the beginning with the bottom one. I've used half a tube of bonjella so far today.

Re: Inman aligners
How long into the treatment were you before you noticed any movement? I'm only 5 days in but each time I take my IA out I'm checking to see if there's any difference! So far some of my teeth ache, but no movement. Also, my dentist put a composite on the back of one of my front teeth, at the bottomof the tooth. I'm not sure if the springy part of the IA that sits behind my teeth should sit above the composite or on it?
Re: Inman aligners
Earthgirl looks like we started at the same time. I check mine all the time also though it's probably too early to really see the movement.
I basically only take it out to eat so I'm hoping that helps them move faster. I've spent the past few days reading though all the pages on the forum. This is the best site for real information on the IA.

Re: Inman aligners
I take photos every week and I think there's a noticeable difference at about week 3, although that's lower and they move quicker. Now at week 9.5 it doesn't even look like my own mouth
I'm on day 4 of upper and realistically I don't think I'll see movement as quick so I'm hoping to see something by week 4. The weekly photos are a good idea because it's great to look back on.

Re: Inman aligners
Tennessee have you got composites on your teeth? I've got one at the very top of my lateral incisor (I looked up the names of teeth!) and one on the back of one incisor. I don't know if the aligner is supposed to make contact with these composites or if they are just there to keep the brace in place. My dentist didn't really explain this to me, and when he asked me if I had any questions I felt like I couldn't speak because the brace was such a mouthful so I just shook my head!
I hate to think I am wearing it wrong as the first week would have been a waste of time (I'm going to phone my dentist tomorrow to ask).
Apart from that the first week has been ok so far but no movement. Still salivating a lot and my speech hasn't improved, I've just decided to speak to my family regardless. Sometimes they don't understand me, but at least they have stopped laughing!
As soon as I get some movement I'm going to post some pictures. I plan to also take them each week.
Did your dentist give you an estimated treatment time? Mine didn't, but when I told him I wouldn't be wearing it at work he said he would see me every 4 weeks instead of the usual 2. So from that I take it that it will take approx double the usual time. I'm averaging about 17 hours a day (including weekends).
I agree, this site seems to be the best resource for IA info - not much else about, I've been reading it avidly since I got my brace!

Re: Inman aligners
I don't have composites. From reading other post I think they are to keep the aligner in the right spot and to keep it from moving up/down depending. from what i've read the front piece should be near the biting edge of teeth and the back toward the gums. Definitely call to make sure though. Some people needed to composite to apply extra pressure so not sure what yours is needed for.
I was the same way at the dr. once I put it in and discovered I couldn't talk right then I didn't have much to ask.
He said 3-4 months and said the more you wear the quicker it works. I'm able to wear to work right now as it is a slow time during the summer. I see my dr. every 4 weeks too. I live almost 2.5 hours from the dentist so I'm glad its not every two.
I took pictures before and will try to continue. Will be nice to see the progress.
And at home I don't care how I sound but I think I've gotten some confused looks at work when talking.

Well it's in. It's a nice dark purple at the back (my dentist was actually excited that I chose a coloured one!) He said not to bother with Retainer Brite, and that toothbrush and paste will be fine.
My left molars were a bit sore by the time I'd walked home but they have settled now, I can feel the pressure though. Caught my tongue on the spring a couple of times but I don't think there is room for my stud to get stuck luckily. I found it more difficult to get out then to put in but got it after a few practices at the surgery. Had a bit of filing done which wasn't bad, and got 2 composites to keep it in the right place. Slurping a bit due to the excess saliva. Don't think the speech is hideous but after trying some common phrases I use at work I don't think I'll be wearing it there, it helps if you can say stroke and stand up when you work in physio on a stroke unit!
Estimated 4 months and back in 2 weeks for progress check and filing if needed. I forgot to take a picture yesterday but will do when I take it out for dinner. I did see the adjusted model of how my teeth will look at the end which was great.

Re: Inman aligners
My dentist said the same but after about 3 weeks it was stinky even though I cleaned it every time I took it out. Now I use retainer brite about once per week and it's not stinky anymore. I wish I'd known I could get a coloured one!Tigger wrote:Well it's in. It's a nice dark purple at the back (my dentist was actually excited that I chose a coloured one!) He said that if I did want to get anything then Steradent does the same job but cheaper. Mind you an extra £5 for Retainer Brite on top of 850 is nothing really. Apparently few people choose coloured ones, you cant see it once its in.
Jodie I got mine yesterday so looks like we will be progressing together.

How did you get on with the last dentist visit? Did you move on to the clear aligners?
