how many times a day do you change your elastics????

By elastics, do you mean something other than the tiny rubber bands around each bracket? Because if that's what you mean, I've never changed mine :shock: .

The ortho girl puts the elastics on with a strange tool, and there is one around each bracket in my mouth. No one has ever mentioned changing them. I've only had braces a short while, so forgive my ignorance please! :wink:
No, those are called "ligatures or ligs" around each bracket. Elastics are larger and go from tooth to tooth in different configurations and they are attached to "hooks" on the brackets. They usually come much later in treatment, if ever.

I am quite surprised at all the responses - I got my elastics first time 3 weeks ago to close the gaps and the ortho said to change them every 3 days? Maybe I misheard him.. does that sound normal to anyone?

That sounds very unusual to me. 3 or 4 times a day sounds normal.
