When I was visiting my in-laws this past week, my mother in law asked me if I'd gotten my braces off (I have ceramic uppers). I smiled really big  and said, Nope, I get them off in 2 weeks!

She said she didn't really see them anymore and thought I'd already gotten them off.

BTW, there's nothing wrong with her vision. Also, my brother-in-law (who I was so worried about making disgusting comments) didn't notice them at all...until I said something to him as he was leaving 3 days after we'd arrived.

Really, GO FOR IT!

Happy New Year!

Thanks very much for your enouragement - whenever I get an attack of the nerves I just come on here and read your posts again!

Anyway B-day is tomorrow at 9am (UK time) and now I'm nearly there, I'm finding I'm not feeling so bad - just want to get it over with.

School term doesn't start till Wed so I have the day to obsess about my teeth in the mirror and learn to eat soft foods! Actually I'm going to look in the mirror as little as possible and go out and try to stop thinking about it! They've been on my mind way to much and they're not even on yet!

Once they're on, the only way is up!

And as for 7 year olds kk, I reckon they're much less scary than high school kids! (although I do have a couple of troublemakers - one of their mums has full metal braces!)

Thanks again :D

Hey Kiwi,

I'm braced! I won't bore you with details as I've put them on another thread. You said 'enjoy your day' and I'm surprised to find that I am! I'm so proud I did it, the worst is over!

Seriously I would probably have backed out if it hadn't been for the advice and reassurance from this site. You've made me realise there are loads and loads of adults of all ages going through this and it's actually no big deal.

Wish me luck going back to work tomorrow! Hopefully no one notices or cares.....

x
