Go get it done, honey. You will never be happy with your smile the way it is and it is holding you back ----it is messing with your head. If you are in pageants you are a knock out----don't let your smile keep you from doing everything you want to do in life. So many others here (including myself) have posted on other threads about feeling self conscious, laughing behind their hands, never smiling in pictures, etc. That is worse than having braces and that behavior is permanent.
Braces are temporary---they are here, do their work and they are gone. Take the time now, get your smile the way you want it and set the world on fire. Looking forward to reading about your journey!

Thanks Brunoise...you just boosted my confidence.. :)

Skylark -- The ortho said I have to wear them for a year, and then when I got excited he then said 18 months so I dont get all excited. He said I was "one of those" LOL. But yesterday he asked me about my pain tolerance and i said good, so he put a thicker wire in and attached it to my back teeth. (he said he doesnt do this if your pain tolerance is low) and then he said he is going to try to move me fast. And I have metal ones. My ortho wont do anything BUT metal. Are ceramics the clear brace?

What kind braces you took as you are going those competitios? I will start to have shows in the front of the public and I really do not want to look metal mouth. I will swop to invisalign after the worst part has been fixed.

Ive been putting braces off because of the competitions. Because Ive already done Miss World twice I really want to do Miss Universe. I was actually asked back in July to compete in Miss Universe Canada this March, but I told them no. I figure if i keep putting my braces off all the time by the time i get them I would be 30 and would constantly be competing with teeth I hate. So I decided just to get them now (im 22) and then ill get them off when im 23, and I can compete when Im 24. (You can do miss universe till your 27). And then at least I will have more confidence standing next to the other girls with perfect straight (and sometimes veenered) teeth. Yes they are metal, but in my heart thats what I trusted most and they are only a year...it will go by fast...at least im hoping LOL.

Hey Whisper*Dior,

In answer to your question, yes ceramics are the clear ones. They still show but are more subtle than full metal ones. Well done for getting full metal, good for you! And so much better than getting veneers like the other pageant girls.

How's the pain? Hope everything's going smoothly!

PS Post some pics of your teeth if you have them, always interesting...
