Sorry for venting everybody.........i think i was mad most at the girl who did it. She immediatey started making excuses about what happened. I feel better now. The crown is back in place. My dentist was able to use the same one, and redo it. He told me that she must have really twisted the band while pushing it down, and then getting stuck, she just pulled. Ph well..........Dec 18th...........I will say I was so ready to start it all. I wasn't nervous at all. But i'm sure I will be when I go back to get them back on. My ortho called me about 6 PM to check on me. He told me that he would be putting everything on when I go back............Thanks everybody.......

News Update

#19 Post by mottsrods »

I just call a call from my ortho's office......seems that since the crown came out, and even though they used the same one to put back in, my ortho would like to get a whole new set of moulds......

Not only that, he was only going to band my second molars(not the back ones), and now he has decided to band all of the for a total of 8......OMG.....ohh well....

Now for a question for you all....I had assumed since he and I had talked about using Damons for most of my teeth, that's what it would be, but the I asked the girl from his office this morning which ones he was gonna use!!!She informed me that he would use a 'Quick bracket' on the fronts, top and bottom, and standard on the rest back to the bands.......I've never heard of 'Quick Brackets' and I thought I had heard of them all.......She said they would bond better on my teeth and were meant for short term treatments, but are stronger to bond and the ortho felt he would try them for my longer treatment to see how they worked.......

Am I being a guinee pig..........any comments?

Thanks Karen,

He has been an ortho for 38 years not including his schooling. I just wonder what they are.......The way I understood it, he is hoping they will bond better on my teeth. Which I do have alot of dental work already, several crowns, and alot of build ups on my front teeth, where they got knowcked out and broken a few years back.

I think I'm just letting my mind get the best of me now since so much went on yesterday.

I need to go back to the garage........get some work done, and clear my mind.........

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the crown incident. (I dont even want to imagine how much it hurt being pulled off)

My front teeth are porcelain crowns so my ortho had to file them slightly to make an abrasive surface for the bracket to adhere to. I was also told that my crowns will need to be replaced after treatment due to movement (my front teeth are straight but slope upwards towards the right side of my mouth - hence they are being pulled downwards so my crowns will no longer be long enough to meet the gum line - I guess the filing must look weird too when the bracket comes of!)

The only job the assisstant does at my practice is call you into the room and pass the instruments to the ortho, he does all the dentistry work and moulds etc.

Hopefully the rest of your treatment will be plain sailing - good luck.

hmmm crowns and braces.... My molar bands are attached to two crowns and I just noticed the other day that one of those crowned teeth is now standing proud of my gum... does this mean I 'll need that tooth to be recrowned? Better get that dental insurance plan into action!

Listen to this........my normal dentist asked me to come back in today so he could check my crown to make sure it was ok..........so i went in and he had called in sick, so his partner had to look at me........i've never seen him before.....ever........he says to me,

'Braces huh, I think you should reconsider getting braces. I believe it would be a little more conservative to crown 7 of your top front, and six of your bottom front, we could make them very straight, and they would be really white too'

I replied,

F&*%$# You, i'm not gonna ruin 13 perfectly good teeth so you can make 847 bucks for each crown you do......

I got up, walked out, and didn't say a word to anyone as i left.........

Good Night what was he thinking........and might i mention again, he has never even seen me or treated me before.........

That's what you call opportunism.

I just did some figures on that and I'm sure your bottom line - not to mention your bite - will be much better doing ortho!
