Thanks Meryaten, As you can imagine I'm watching this thread carefully lol. That sounds like good advice and I really value it as it helps me speak to my Ortho in an informed way.

As for not telling an Ortho what to do, I agree in principle. However, in my case I got totally fed up with my orthodontist about three months ago and told them exactly what I wanted them to do. More happened in the following three weeks after that adjustment then in the previous three months!

I now firmly believe that on occasion a patient’s insight into their treatment can be as valuable as years of professional study and experience. I reckon there's a few people here who have had a similar experience.

My midline is fixed by using class II elastics (from top canine to lower first molar) only on my right side. I have class I bite on my left side and class II on my right. It is slowly getting there.

I started wearing the midline elastic as of yesterday. UM...am I really expected to wear this 24/7? I can hardly speak with it, and I don't want to go out in public with this ridiculous thing across the front of my teeth. :?

Would it be okay if I kept it off 1-2 hours a day? Just for meals, snacks and whatnot?

For example, I went out to lunch today with a friend, and took it off before I left the house, and went without it for about 2 hours in total. Would this reverse any progress I've made already?
